The KPA’s core mission is to represent Keele postgraduates and their interests to the University and to make sure they have the best possible experience during their time at Keele. General Meetings are a key way that the KPA achieves this.
All registered postgraduates at Keele are automatically made full-members of the KPA upon enrollment. This means that they are entitled to submit, discuss and vote on motions at General Meetings as well question their elected officers on the activities they have undertaken to represent their interests to the University. In this light, General Meetings are a key way for the members of the KPA to determine how they would like the Association to act on their behalf.
Constitutionally, the KPA must hold one Annual General Meeting (AGM) and one Ordinary General Meeting (OGM) each academic year, however the elected officers or the membership may wish to hold more. The Association Secretary will contact the membership in advance of each General Meeting to inform the membership of when and where the meeting will take place, they will also ask full-members if they wish to submit any motions. All motions must be submitted via the General Meeting motion template which can be found here. This template details what must be done to submit a motion and gives some advice on how to write a motion. If a full-member has any questions they should contact the Association Secretary for more details.
