URGENT Update on Overnight Study Space

To all postgraduates.

Due to unforeseen circumstances, the room that has been used for the overnight study space in Darwin building is no longer available. However, due to the usage of the room and it’s popularity with students, the KPA and the University have worked together to find a replacement.

This message is to advise all postgraduate students that the new overnight study space is now in Chancellors building, CBB0.039. This room will be available from 9am 2nd Septemberuntil 23rd September and is a full 24 hour study space, meaning it can be used during the day as well as the evening. To gain access during the evening, security will leave the ground floor side door (facing Tawney) of the building open. To help identify the building, it is often known as the banana building due to its shape. Please see the pictures below for a clearer idea. The University have also put up simple signage pointing you towards the room.

Please do not attempt to use the room in Darwin as you will be denied entry.

Unfortunately, the room does not have any computers, however, we have checked with IT Services and short and long-term laptop loans are still available. If you require a computer and do not have your own laptop then we advise that you take advantage of this laptop loan scheme. To learn more of the scheme please follow this link: https://www.keele.ac.uk/it/laptoploan/. There will, however, be access to a print room.

As with the previous room, we would like to stress that all students be respectful towards the space and each other. If you suspect students are not being respectful you can contact Security on 01782 733004 or 33004 from a campus telephone.

We would like to apologise for the inconvenience this move may cause but we hope that the efforts from both the KPA and the University shall allow students to continue to have access to a 24 hour study space. If you do have any questions please do not hesitate to contact kpa.chair@keele.ac.uk
